We were contacted recently by a customer in the Melbourne suburb of Maribynong who wanted a retractable clothesline for their small courtyard.
After discussing their washing line requirements, we recommended the Austral Retractaway 40 retractable clothesline.
This convenient, retractable clothesline is very easy to use – simply pull the lines out when required and retract the lines back into the cabinet when finished. It has various mounting options (see below) and the customer chose to mount it on the exterior wall in a disused area of the courtyard.
While compact in size, the Austral Retractaway can handle the clothes drying requirements of 1-6 people.
It comes in a range of colours and this customer opted for the Woodland Grey to match the brickwork of their townhouse.
While we do offer a clothesline installation service, this customer didn’t require assistance and installed the washing line themselves.

The Retractaway 40 is a convenient retractable Austral clothesline that is very easy to use. Pull out the line when required and retract the lines back into the cabinet when finished.
It offers a variety of mounting options including wall to wall, wall to post, post to wall and post to post.

- Suitable for 1 – 6 people.
- Cabinet Size : 800mm wide x 125mm high x 170mm deep.
- Line space: 5 Lines x 2m-8m. Lines will lock into place from a minimum of 2m to a maximum of 8m.
- Mounting options: wall to wall, wall to post, post to wall and post to post.
- Colours: Classic Cream, Woodland Grey, Black, Dune, Heritage Green, Monument, Paperbark, Shale Grey, Wallaby and White (Colorbond colour availability may vary from State to State).

Delivery, Returns and Warranty Information
Please ensure you leave clear delivery instructions in case you are not at home.
Returns : You have seven (7) calendar days to return an item from the date of delivery. To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. Your item must be in the same packaging. Your item needs to have the receipt or proof of purchase. More information »
Delivery Locations : We deliver to all Metro Areas on the East Coast and in South Australia. Outer-lying areas, including Far North and Regional Queensland, Regional NSW, Regional Victoria, and Regional South Australia, are partly services by our couriers however we are limited by their delivery zones. If you would like to check if we can deliver to you, prior to purchase, feel free to contact us. When ordering clotheslines, letterboxes and spare parts from our website, you will not be told if you are out of area when you check out via the shopping cart. If you are out of our delivery zones, our friendly team will be in touch to provide some alternatives.
Free Shipping: The free shipping policy offered on our website is for delivery to most major cities. Unfortunately, some transport company’s door-to-door services are not available in all regional areas. Please be aware that you may have to pick up your order from the transport company’s closest depot, or incur an additional delivery charge (if the transport company’s policy extends to this service).
Shipping Times: After receiving your order, all products are generally shipped the next business day (unless otherwise stated).
